Update from transactional ODS Object to InfoCube

Hello guys,

I am trying to load data from a transactional ODS Object to an InfoCube. The reason for this is that the data is coming from APD and stored in the transactional ODS. The ODS is filled with data. Export datasource is generated correct.

The question is how do I update the data from transational ODS to the InfoCube.

What I tried:

- Define Update rule on InfoCube --> There is no InfoPackage that I can start.

- Define a generic datasource with transaction RSO2 and the transactional ODS --> causes an error "Cannot create objects in SAP namespace"

- Note: 321637 says that I have to change the I_Object and I_Value in case the system is at support package level 3. My system has level 12 and I tried to change the parameters. No effect, same error.

Any suggestions for this? (goal is to update data from transactional ods)

Lars,

You can specify the ODS with automatic updating to data target which would automatically update subsequent data targets i.e. the InfoCube.

You should be able to see the generated infosource 8* i.e. 8 plus the name of the name of the ODS..

You may not have your display generated objective selected. It is in the menu of RSA1 and since I don't have access to a live system right now can only say approximately where it is. It is the 2nd or 3rd last menu item grouping and about half way down. For generated objects, that box to show generated objects need to be checked.

The automatically update can not be activated for a transactional ODS object. The checkbox is not accessible.

If you mean instead of infosource that I should see the datasource assigned to the Myself logical system, than I can see the datasource.

The datasource is assigned to an infosource with the 8*, the ods name, but I can not see this infosource either I have display generated objects on or off.

On the otherside I can define Update rules based on the ODS object but not based on the generated infosource.

How do I find the generated infosource and can I use it to update an infocube?

Hi again,

I do not know why but as I restarted my server the generated InfoSources are visible and I can define InfoPackages on them.

It seems that I can know update the InfoCube, I did not try it right know but it should be.

Hi Lars,

Glad it is working now although that is the first time I heard that the server need to be rebooted for generated objects to be shown. You learn something about options every day.

Sometimes when BPS or BEx behave strangely or freezes, we have to reboot the computer or laptop and it is due to some interfering or non-terminated Excel processes but that is at the client computer level..
