in general i guess, we can have following types of scenarios,

sap <--> nonSap

nonSap <--> nonSap.

sap <--> sap

i guess XI is used only for 1st scenario in most projects.

in general what could be the pecentage of scenarios where use for nonSap <> nonSap and sap <> sap kind of interfaces.

Hi Jagdishwar,

If you want to ignore XI even for sap <--> nonSap scenario also you can ignore. You can directly call from SAP.

It all depends upon the requirement and you want to use the middleware or not. There are some clients who use xi went we want to send data from SAP to MDM or to BW or EP etc.

So all depends upon your clients requirements.

As mentioned, that certainly depends on your customer use

In my experience i have more % of interfaces Sap -> nonSap & nonSap -> Sap,

using Inbound IDoc's and EDI to sap from webservices, portals and FTP servers

or sending IDoc/EDI data with AS2/HTTP scenarios

it's really based on your own experience, after that at my new project i got a lot of interfaces going

Sap -> Sap, like connecting modules FI and FSCM which were unknown to me at the moment

I could say 85% Sap to NonSap scenario involved,

10% Non Sap,

and 5% between sap-to-sap systems (JBDC and HTTP scenarios mostly).

Most of the times working with scenarios in XI it really makes no difference who's source and who's target, i think the important thing is getting experience with the different adapters and scenarios, but then again, most of the times you don't get to choose!

Hope that helps!

Hi Jagdishwar,

XI can be used for any type of the scenario, the % of scenario will depend on the requirement.

If the client is using XI as a middleware tool, he will try to develop all the scenario on the XI middleware platform.

As the maximum organization is having SAP as a backend system, they prefer to go with SAP XI middleware.

If the client is using some other middleware tool like TIBCO he will develop

sap <--> nonSap

nonSap <--> nonSap.

sap <--> sap

scenario in the TIBCO platform.

appreciate if the helpful

Hi,

This totally depends on your business requirement.

If the customer has requirements of interfacing different SAP systems in his IT landscape then the obvious choice would be XI.
