TTA and CBTA availability for SAP Standard Support customers

Dear All,

What are the options for using CBTA Test Automation or TTA (Tricentis Test Automation for SAP) with SolMan 7.2 for customers having Standard Support engagement.

Is it feasible if they want to go for them by paying some charges, will it be total license cost or any other options?

Hi Piyush,

As far as I know, there is no SAP price list position for CBTA as a standalone product - same for TTA. Both tools are based on the Solution Manager and this results in an extended capability for premium support tools and processes.

Both solutions are to be regarded as small nuggets in order to make the motivation for SAP premium commitments easier.

  • In other words, these valuable and necessary tools are not for sale, but should be seen as a bundle with the enhanced contract.
  • Thinking further - officially only the test management solution from Tricentis (and not TTA) is available - which in some cases is much more expensive than simply upgrading the SAP STD maintenance contract to a SAP Enterprise Support maintenance contract.
  • Especially when you consider the other additional premium tools and SAP services. eg. BPCA and SEA (also test management relevant) ...
  • The scope of the usage rights depends on the maintenance agreement and is independent of the SAP Solution Manager release.
  • A Term License for Tricentis Test Automation for SAP is granted with SAP Enterprise Support**.

As per usage rights of SAP Solution Manager, TTA and CBTA aren't available for Standard Support customers.

So, in that case there is no other option for Standard Support customers, only option is to go for Enterprise Support or Higher, right?

Hallo Piyush,

in a short way: yes! (it's a maintenance issue)
>> Please consider this like a business case:

  • each customer have to patch (maintain) each system after a change
  • each change means you have to test the software - this causes also efforts. If you are able to shrink (optimize) this to the least time, preferably with included tools, then it is worth the extra charge.

Personal note:

  • I often don't understand the discussions with customers who complain that IT costs are skyrocketing, but on the one hand they have some 3rd party tools from every software manufacturer, which is not directly integrated into the others - on the other hand, they don't use the existing ones, which even for have been developed for this purpose and are included in the maintenance agreements of SAP.
