Tranport groups in STMS

Hello All,

Recently I have seen QAS transport group between DEV and QA system in my SAP system. What is this QAS group and what it is meant for?

I am attaching the screen shot for your reference.

Please clarify on this transport groups.

Hi Kiran,

In simple words

Transport Target group are used to transport requests from multiple clients of a source system to target system.

Hi Prithviraj,

Thank you for the answer.

But, although we  have many clients in Dev system, we are creating requests from only one client. If it is a workbench, it would be imported to only one client and if it is a Customizing one, it would be imported to all clients of target system. Then what is the need of this transport group? Correct me if I am wrong with the understanding.

Can you please elaborate on this.

no need to move TR between DEV clients , but as your case in attach , you have many clients in QAS , PRD , so you need Transport Target to manage TR moving from DEV to QAS & PRD

Hi Kiran,

Transport target group are meant for this...

when,

1.

There are multiple clients where the requests are coming from

or

2.

When a request is to be imported in to multiple client in a target system coming from single source system

or

3.

When a request is to be imported in a single client of multiple target system

(as depicted in below diagram)

These are only few way of using it. There can be many combinations.
