Support of Windows 8, 2012 or RT?

The Platform support page don't mention Windows 8 or Windows 2012 or Windows RT. For when is the support of these platforms planned. And will there be any native support for Windows RT at all?

Windows Server 2012 compatibility is documented for SA 16.0, SA 12.0.1 and SA 11.0.1.

I ran 64 bit SA16 under Windows8 until switching to Linux.

The official Web page shows now:

12.0.1 Windows 8 (x86 and x64 - EBF #3797 or higher required)
Windows Server 2012 (EBF #3797 or higher required)
11.0.1 Windows 8 (x86 and x64 - EBF #2878 or higher required)
Windows Server 2012 (EBF #2878 or higher required)

...whereas the "Is Windows RT supported" question seems unanswered so far...

That may be due to the fact that AFAIK RT is designed for ARM processors, while the other OS target the x86/x64 archtecture.

To me that platform looks more like a candidate for UltraLite than the full SQLA suite.

No answer, just a clue from CR 717784:

On Windows 8 and Windows 2012 systems, the platform-related properties would have indicated an "unrecognized Windows version". Support for these two platforms has now been added.

Fixed Version:

  • 12.0.1.3783
  • 12.0.0.2807
  • 11.0.1.2861
Apparently, the v12 EBFs are not yet available.

EDIT: Although the official "Supported Platforms page has not been altered, the 12.0.1.3797 EBF has been released a few days ago.

Just a note on Windows RT. As Reimer mentioned, it is a platform most suited to UltraLite. There is no announced release date for UltraLite on Windows RT, but we are working on it. If you are interested in running UltraLite on Windows RT, and would like to discuss your requirements further, please feel free to send me an e-mail.
