Strange behavior with workbooks in AO 2.3.1 - refresh datasource

Hello,

a view minutes ago I installed AO 2.3.1 and noticed a strange behavior with some workbooks, created with AO 1.4 and saved on the BO server.

One example:

We have a workbook with 6 datasources in it.

After I have inserted the promts and let the Queries run, there is no result.

Only after pressing "Refresh All" the crosstab of each Query is available.

But when I have done this step one time and save the workbook, the next time it works fine.

But this is not really an option to do it for all the workbooks we have.

Has anyone had the same experience?

Thank you.

Best regards.

Steffen

The Problem is solved with 2.3.1 Hotfix 1.

Hi Steffan,

Good to know. Is SP 01 of version 2.3 mature enough for prod usage? Are you facing any other bugs while using it?

Hello Utkarsha,

in our environment we have a topic with the "Query Designer Button".

We are not able to jump out of AO into BEx Query Designer.

But this seems not be a general problem.

SAP detected the problem and will fix it with AO 2.3.2 (available in CW 38 I think).

There is also Note: 2342322

All the rest of AO 2.3 works fine.

Best regards.

Hi Steffan

As i have read if we are using 2.3 version as we have also migrated to the same then in that case due to the compatibilty issue with the BO platform we have to select the option of 1.x while saving the workbook.

so if some old reports are there and you want them to save again after making some changes then in that case it will happen ...

Hi,

I recognized one thing:

This behavior only happens in workbooks, where the Excel Sheet in which the data source and the crosstable is, is hidden.

Any idea, why the behavior is like that?

Hi Stephen,

For the 1.4 Workbooks, is the checkbox for 'Refresh Workbook on Opening' checked and saved?

This is present in the Components tab in the Properties of the workbook.

Hi Utkarsha,

'Refresh Workbook on opening" is checked and saved now. But the behaviour is the same.

Best regards.

Hi Steffen,

The option is valid only for the specific workbooks you save it for and thereafter it works.

I was thinking if you have set that option 'on' for the old workbooks, it will work when you open them, that's, in your case, the 1.4 workbooks. But now, since you're opening it via 2.3 and then saving it, it will be set 'on' only from the next time you open that workbook.

So, i think you will have to 'Refresh All' the queries at least once for all the workbooks before it does that on its own with the checked box.

Hello Utkarsha,

thank you for your answer.

Does anybody else have a suggestion before we start "Refreshing all" the queries in our workbooks?

Best regards.

My suggestion - if you use 2.3 SP0: Wait for SP1.

If you already do, then no idea.

Hi Stteffen,

Have you saved the workbook locally or in BW System or HANA?

And in workbook are you using only Analysis addin?

Because while doing "Refresh All" for a workbook which contains both AO and EPM sheet, currently there an exception occuring.

I have reported internal incident for that.

probably that might be causing the issue for you.

Thanks and Regards,

Hello Basavaraj,

the workbook is saved on SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.1

But this "error" also occurs when I try it with a workbook which is locally saved on my computer.

EPM isn't installed, so this is not the problem.
