Dear Experts,

we are advising one of our Customers to implement SSO 1.0 via Kerberos for them.
Today I've learned, that this is now called SAP NetWeaver Single Sign-On 1.0.
We are kind and would like them to save money, as we know that it comes for free.

They shoot back a question: But is it still supported ?!

We do have other Customer, which are using it... But does that mean that it is supported ?
At least the Release notes are still available on the Marketplace - 1600093 and 1599992
And so began my long internet research, which did not return any certain result.

Note 2290684 says: SAP NetWeaver Single Sign-On 1.0 reached End-of-Life on 31.12.2015

But what does that really mean ? That this product can't be downloaded from the Marketplace ?
We anyway just need the Kerberos libraries and no software from the Marketplace...
Does that mean that we are forbidden to configure it for our Customer ? And what about all
the others which are still happily using it ?

Please kindly enlighten me on that. Many thanks!

Just FYI. SAP SSO 3.0 is not the only product that includes a supported SNC library using Kerberos... You have choices.

Dear Symon,

I fully agree with Tim.

My advice: Please don't expect support and don't use SAP NetWeaver Single Sign-On 1.0 or SAP SSO 2.0 - they are no longer supported and are outdated.

If you want to provide good advice to your customer, tell him to obtain SAP SSO 3.0

Further information, and reasons not to use outdated SNC libraries, can be found in one of my blogs

Cheers Carsten

HI, it is not very clear what you are expecting. You seem to be trying to use unsupported software but asking if it is supported? It looks like you want Kerberos SNC library but don't want to pay for it, but you expect to get support. You can't get a supported library for no cost. There are a number of supported SNC Kerberos libraries available, one of which is from my company, and you could also consider the SAP SSO licensed product by asking SAP for a cost. You can use open source which will be free, but no support provided. If I was you I would consider these options and decide which fits best.
