SQLA2: Is there an advantage to use MySybase credentials?

This is a question originally asked in the beta of the new SQL Anywhere forum:

As MySybase credentials can be used to authenticate (in addition to OpenIDs), is there any advantage to do so?

I.e. is there any correlation with one's MySybase account to get technical support on the Sybase sites (or to enter the download pages) and one's account here when authenticating through MySybase?

Or is this just another way to authenticate?

It's just a way to authenticate. You can attach multiple authentication methods to your account and just log in with whichever one you want on a particular day. You could decide based on whether you're at work or at home or abroad. Or you could do something even more scientific (e.g. flip a coin). I prefer to go with whichever password I can actually remember.

To do this, go to your Users page (in sqlanywhere-forum, not MySyabse), select "User Tools->Authentication settings" and choose "Add new provider" from near the bottom of the page.
