Hello Team,

As part of our SAP RISE implementation project, we are planning to build a new SOLMAN 7.2 system on MS SQL Server DB with Windows OS. We want to confirm, if we can run SQL Server for SAP database along with non-sap application databases. Also,  our SQL server license is directly from Microsoft and not from SAP.

Can you please confirm, if SOLMAN installation on shared SQL DB cluster along with non-sap applications are supported?
Or Is it always recommended to install MS SQL Server on a separate DB host for SAP Application installations?

We tried to find related SAP documentations but couldn't find any concrete document. Request your help on this on urgent basis since we are on tight schedule for SOLMAN implementation.

Thanks & regards,
Lal

The mentioned SAP note says that if you buy the full license directly from Microsoft, from a license point of view, the database can be used for all purposes. Non-SAP usage database can be added to the MSSQL Server Instance.

From the instance management perspective, probably using a dedicated instance can be more useful, but in this case you will need more computer resources, because you will have 2 MSSQL instances running simultaneously instead of just one.
