This forum has been exhibiting inconsistent and often quite slow response times lately... machine response, not human response (although some questions have been a challenge recently 🙂

Yes it has. I've noticed this since we recovered from the outage last week. I've been busy with other stuff but I did briefly try to investigate and saw no problems - the database server seems fine and responsive. Could be a problem with Apache, or a problem with the VM, or a problem with the SAP network, or something else. I will continue to look at it.

I found a couple of database connections that seemed to have been orphaned. They were processing something, and had been for more than a day, but I couldn't tell where they came from; it seemed like the client that started them had gone away but Apache hadn't killed the associated database connections. I dropped those connections and things have been much better since. I'm 99% sure that these connections weren't there the first time I looked but perhaps I missed them.
