Hi,

We need to migrate our windows server 2019 to windows server 2022 as 2019 is end of support. So we have SAP BI 4.3 SP4 Product is installed on 2019, and need to migrate this product to new server 2022 version.

Could you please let us know the procedure step by step  to perform this migration activity?

Regards

Sandeep

Hi sgore,

I faced a similar scenario in the past. As a mandatory step you need to do a fresh SAP BO 4.3 installation on W22 servers (be sure that you are installing "exactly" the same release-patch you installed on the W19 servers).

At that point you have to options to move the full repository content from W19 to W22 SAP BO install

1) To perform a full system promotion as described below using Command Line Interface (CLI)

https://help.sap.com/docs/SAP_BUSINESSOBJECTS_BUSINESS_INTELLIGENCE_PLATFORM/2e167338c1b24da9b2a94e6...

This is a well know approach and you will find plenty of references about it including some interesting guides such this one

https://help.sap.com/doc/pattern-book-on-life-cycle-managementpromotion-management/4.2/en-US/8%20Pat...

2) Create a cluster. This is a very clever approach. Consists on create a cluster of CMS. When doing it all the content is "automatically" synchronized across both set of servers. Once systems are aligned, remove W19 servers from the cluster and shutdown them.

This second approach is poor documented and it´s a bit messy but provides an straight forward path if you are able to complete it successfully (it's my favourite one)

General recommendations (for whatever approach you use): Take backups of servers and test all process steps in advance on a test environment.
