SAPService_SID, SIDADM

Our company has a standard naming convention for AD domain, service accounts and groups and doesn't want to follow SAP's naming convention, SAPService_SID and SIDADM, SAP_SID_GlobalAdmin, etc.

Can these accounts be changed and is it a good idea to do so?

Thanks,

Dan

I'm in the middle of an installation and I'm not sure it's even possible to change the default users. There's no option for changing these during the installation.

Thanks,

Dan

No, you would need to modify the installation XMLs.

You would have to do that during installation.

An account on Windows is more than just a user. It's identified by a GUID, filesystem and share permissions are attached to it as well as operating system specific settings (Lock memory, run 'as service' etc.).

It's not possible to change a user easily after installation without impacting the security of the system.

Since all the tools (installation, upgrades, monitoring) have a specific naming convention I would not use other than those.
