SAP Walkme and SAP Enable Now

Given the recent acquisition of SAP Walkme, is Enable Now likely to move towards obsoletion? Does SAP have a roadmap for this acquisition that sheds light on the future of Enable Now? And how will the two solutions work together or replace one another?

Hi Salim,

Thanks for the follow up question, it's another very good one.  Obviously without a Roadmap it's difficult to say anything concrete but there are some things that I think are relatively clear:

1. The goal is to create a joint solution that combines components of both Enable Now and WalkMe
2. That joint solution will not be available for some time so customers must consider how to deal with changes that are occurring in the next year or two without the new joint solution
3. There are components of Enable Now that are not available through WalkMe, e.g. the digital learning content such Books and Book Pages and Simulations.  There are also other aspects of Enable Now that are not currently available through WalkMe, e.g. the integration between SAP systems such as Signavio and Enable Now.  Given that these components are not available in WalkMe, it's pretty safe to say that digital learning content created using Enable Now are likely be a part of the joint solution
4. The challenge in deciding how to progress in the short term is most specific to the SAP Companion component of Enable Now.  This is the component of Enable Now that overlaps significantly with WalkMe.  If your customer is really interested in this type of capability and has not already using SAP Companion then this is something that definitely requires consideration.  The intention would be to automate the migration to WalkMe from SAP Companion, assuming that a significant portion of the WalkMe solution became the DAP component of the joint solution.  However, I have no insight into that migration process or effort at this time so cannot confirm if this migration process will be completely or partially automated.

So, in summary, I think there are aspects of Enable Now that are extremely likely to be a part of the future solution and others that may not.  Hopefully the Roadmap will be available very soon that will allow us to make our better decisions about how to progress in the short term until the joint solution is available.

I hope this helps.

Regards
Shane

Shane my client (J&J MedTech) has had me and others put a LOT of time and effort into SAP Companion: links from all apps to simulations, 100+ Guided Tours, even more help tiles. When I used WalkMe a few years ago it was dramatically inferior. Certainly hoping there will be a way to keep the extensive content we have?

Hi Will,

The current feedback that I have is that SAP Enable Now content, such as Simulations and Book Pages, will be able to be loaded onto the WalkMe platform and continue to be updated and distributed to end users. This is not the case with SAP Companion content; please refer to this Community post by Kristina Kunad for more detail.   Please have your customer discuss their concerns with their SAP representative and they can provide feedback to the team managing this transition.

Hi Sarim,

Thanks for the question.  The SAP Enable Now and WalkMe teams are currently working on a joint Roadmap for the two solutions.  Unfortunately, that Roadmap is not currently ready but at some point in the future some of the components of Enable Now and WalkMe will be combined into a joint solution.  Once the Roadmap and timelines for the joint solution are available, we will begin to communicate these details, so stay tuned.

Thanks Shane, looking forward to some updates. In the meanwhile, what would you suggest for a client looking to implement Enable Now right now for digital adoption but who have reservations regarding its impending obsoletion due to the recent WalkMe acquisition?

Hi Kristina,

Unfortunately, there is still very little actual detail, like a Roadmap, available to share.  Take a look at this post by Kristina Kunad and follow Kristina on the Community because it is likely that she will be the one to share the updates when they become available.

Shane

Hi all, can I just ask a follow up question: Will WalkMe work with SAP ECC, or only S/4HANA? Thanks

Hi David, This article on the WalkMe support site indicates that it does work with SAP ECC https://support.walkme.com/knowledge-base/about-desktop-for-sap/?ts=1747348025
