SAP Table Extraction via External ETL Tools

Hello Team,

I have a requirement to extract data from various SAP Tables from various SAP instances & send it to NON Sap systems for further use.

SAP System used is ECC & the choice is to be made which ETL tool to be used to extract data on a daily frequency which could consider to extract almost 2 GB data per day.

Please help me with your experience which ETL tools goes best with SAP with no hassles in Configuring.

Industry practice preferred .

Agree, from the simplicity and effectiveness nothing beats SAP Data Services for such a task.

(If SAP sales happens to promote SAP Data Intelligence, simply ask for a comparison between both and a POC to compare a simple task and you will see for yourself)

But frankly, every ETL tool is fine. If you use one already, it will have a SAP connector. Informatica, Talend,...

There is no ETL tool being used now, proposal is more towards Talend & But I aint sure if Talen / SAP BODS / Informatica..

The target system here being Power BI, I am foreseeing a lot of Visualization which intun would expect a speedy performance or rather Real time. Does SAP Data services / SAP BODS can help the client to achieve this ?

ravishankar.ramanan I would order the list by cost and try one after the other. As I have not used Talend in the SAP environment, I did a quick search and get mixed results from their web site. On the one hand they are saying SAP is fully supported. When I go to the connector directory, the connectors for SAP are free and marked as obsolete. :confused:

I guess the next cheapest solution of the three is already SAP Data Services in its smallest configuration. And that would be my favorite anyhow. One word of warning: The UI of Data Services is very old fashioned and the tool gets only the bare minimum of maintenance, at least that is my impression. Check the release notes of Data Services to see what changes it got to validate my impression.
