Dear @PavitraHV

I hope I got your question right. Otherwise feel free to elaborate on it please or to open a ticket in SAP for Me

In SAP Signavio Process Manager, there isn’t a direct feature to automatically differentiate between manually made changes and changes applied via Variant Management, you can implement a combination of strategies, including using Process Governance workflows and internal conventions. Here's how:

1. Change Logging

  • Check the version history of your processes. This allows you to track changes made, regardless of the source (manual or via Variant Management).
  • Use the comments or annotations feature to specify the source of changes, such as marking updates as "Variant Management Update" or "Manual Change."

2. Approval Workflows via Process Governance

  • Create a structured approval workflow in SAP Signavio Process Governance for any updates to process models:
    • Designate an approval stage specifically for manual changes. Users must document why and how the changes were made.
    • Introduce another approval stage for changes pushed via Variant Management. This stage could be automated if it doesn't require manual intervention.
  • Set up notifications to inform stakeholders when either type of change occurs.

3. Tagging or Naming Conventions

  • Use consistent naming conventions or metadata tags for processes updated via Variant Management. For instance:
    • Manual updates: "Process XYZ - Manual Update 2025/01/17"
    • Variant Management updates: "Process XYZ - Variant Mgmt 2025/01/17

By combining these approaches, especially leveraging Process Governance approval workflows, you can effectively track and differentiate between manual and Variant Management changes while maintaining control over the updates in your process models.

Warm regards,
Cäcilia
