Hi all,

im working on a PoC and one of the tools is a S/4 Hana instance, that we are planning to subscribe from CAL, however it is not clear for me, from the documentation, that on this type of subscription we can develop.

Basically i need to consume an WebService that will require some ad hoc functionalities on the instance. Can i achieve this on this type of instance/subscription?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Regards

JM

Hi Stanimir,

Thanks for your reply but i must confess that i got confused (my fault due to probably lack of knowledge).

From what I've read the SAP CAL subscription service provides you a pre configured instance, according SAP best practices, and ready to use with the processes already configured. My requirement was that on top of that i can use that instance for some ad hoc development, just for external data integration and process automation.

Since it is only for PoC purposes and not for final client demo/delivery i thought that this could be achieved using the CAL subscription, but what I've understand is that to achieve this i'll need a SAP product license. Is that it?

Thanks,

Regards,

JM

Hi Joao,

Yes, your understanding is correct. Bringing your own SAP product license is a prerequisite for the CAL subscription. If you a partner you can get developer licenses from the PartneEdge portal.

Depending on the purpose of your PoC you could leverage the 30-day free trial license agreement. During the trial period you can only test and evaluate the SAP software, i.e. you can't use it for commercial purposes.

Hello Joao,

We must distinguish between the SAP CAL subscription and the SAP product licenses. The SAP CAL subscription gives you the right to use SAP CAL as a delivery channel while the SAP product licenses give the right to use the delivered SAP software. Hence the S/4 license that you would bring will define what you can do with your S/4 instance. Technically you apply the SAP product licenses by generating and installing license keys. You can find the details in the Getting Started Guide for the corresponding solution. See the Licenses section.

I recommend to see also this blog.

Best regards,
