Dear SAP experts,
we are planning to implement S/4HANA Central Finance solution with data replication from non-ABAP source database.
I have studied SAP documentation and for such replication SAP recommends SAP LT Replication server according to 2154420 - SAP LT Replication Server for SAP Central Finance
What I am wondering is what is the difference between SLT and SLT - RS.
The only difference I would find is that once is based on DB log replication and the other is DB trigger based replication.
Thank you in advance for any supporting documentation outlining the difference!

Hi Jan,
I have worked on both the products, and agree that the names are pretty confusing. There is small story behind all this confusion, but trust me there is a lot of difference between the 2 tools/products.
For Central Finance solution, SAP LT Replication server (SLT - RS) is the answer.
SAP LT Replication Server, is basically a tool provided for replicating your data from one system to another (SAP to SAP, non-SAP to SAP) in real time. This replicates the data from source to target tables at the table level, which means there is no data consistency maintenance guarantee. For eg: I can load a MARC data (Plant level for material) without even loading MARA (Basic level data for material).
For Central Finance it replicates the data from source to target at application layer level. This means the data consistency is maintained, and this is because of the 3 replication objects provided by SAP. i.e. AUFK (Internal Order Master Data) CFIN_ACCHD (FI transactional Data), and COBK (Secondary objects data).
You can find more details about the same in Central Finance Admin guide readily available over the internet.
SAP Landscape Transformation, as the name suggests is a tool which helps you in take care of your landscape and has no replication capabilities as such. This tool enables companies to transform your existing landscape, merge a newly acquired company to your existing landscape. It covers the below transformation needs:
1. Leverage, Sell, Buy, and Restructure
2. Unify and Transform Data
3. Consolidate and Reduce IT Cost
This tool is now available for SAP partners to carry out transformations themselves for some specific areas with minimum customization's For complex transformation solutions, its still performed by SAP consultants themselves.
Please let me know if any more information is required.

Manish
