Hi,
We want to migrate our ERP 6.0 Ehp 8 to SoH. There is no need to upgrade the current ERP but we intend to upgrade to a higher SP level later. Is DMO or classic migration strategy better for our migration?
Regards,
Lim
Hello Lim,
As you have mentioned that you don't want to perform software change at the time of SoH migration, and now from SUM 1.0 SPS 19 you can actually migrate to SoH by using DMO without system update (SAP Note: 2444717). This will not change the SP level but it will migrate your database to HANA.
The key factor for migration project is how you can minimize the downtime. And with DMO you can achieve that shorter downtime compared to classical approach.

Hello Lim,
both scenarios will work in your case. But if you follow the classic way, a person with OS/DB migration certification must perform the steps for the prod. system. If you use SUM DMO you won't need a certified person. As dennis.padia already mentioned it is now possible to use SUM DMO without system update. Do you also want to switch the application server? You can also use the system move option from SUM.

Jens
