Hi Gurus,
Is a separate Datasphere license required solely for consuming data in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)? If a user has an SAC license and the SAC reports retrieve data from Datasphere, does the user also need a Datasphere license? Note that the SAC user does not need to log in to Datasphere.
Best Regards

Yes, you need a DSP user to be able to access, as this is how security is managed.
If the user does NOT need to access the DSP environment and only needs to consume data, there is a CONSUMER role that does exactly that.
SAC and DSP must use the same identity provider and be configured with SAML2 to enable Single Sign-On. This way, once the user is authenticated in SAC, they can access DSP without having to re-enter their username and password.
From a financial perspective, there is no additional cost since user licenses in DSP are free, and as mentioned, DSP is billed based on CUs (memory, CPU, etc.).

If I am not wrong, then Datasphere costing works based on CU (Capacity Unit) and not based on number of users.
Now, to answer your question, you need to create the same user in Datasphere who is consuming the Datasphere data into SAC reports. It is a live connection, so user need to have viewer rights in Datasphere to consume the data in SAC.
