I followed the blog article here:Modeling a basic Hierarchy with Directory in SAP D... - SAP Community
but I get the error message:
"All leaf elements must be used as part of the association between dimension and hierarchy"
when I try to deploy the association to the hierarchy in the dimension.Does anyone have a clue what might be the problem?Help very appreciated

Hey, quite some experience. With Hierarchy with Directory as well. First of all, some more details are needed :). Post some screen shots.
F.e. now you can do compounded keys, you could not previously. Do you have compounded key?
