Hi All,
We are brainstorming ideas to upgrade current BW 7.0 system.
The case we want to study is we install SAP BW 7.5 in a new box and then migrate all objects from current BW 7.0 to BW 7.5. (not upgrading the BW 7.0 system)
1. Is this feasible? Will the BW objects in BW 7.0 work successfully in BW 7.5? While reading about upgrade in same system (BW 7.0 to BW 7.5), I noted that BW 7.0 objects are supported by BW 7.5 thus making a technical upgrade without performing functional upgrade.
2. Any risks listed for such a case?
3. what about data? Won't we need to setup delta flows anew in the new BW 7.5 system?
4. How do we collect all objects (considering all dependencies) to ensure successful migration from source BW 7.0 to BW 7.5? Maybe start with a BEx and get all dependent objects using "transport connection" . But does that ensure sequence? Will it safer to transport like below,
Thanks.

Hi Ratish,
1. Question numbers 1 & 4 cannot migrate from the current version of NW 7.0 to new hardware NW 7.5.
2. You have to upgrade the existing SAP NW 7.0 to 7.5, to do this, you must go through the SAP Upgrade guide based on your OS & DB.
3. During the upgrade process you have to check the OS / DB supported version.

Hi Ratish,
1. still can't migrate transports from BW 7.0 to BW 7.5, right? Yes, You can't migrate from the lower to the higher version of transport two different version of BW systems.
2. We mandatorily need to upgrade the existing Bw 7.0 to 7.5, right? yes, during the process you have to check the SAP PAM existing SAP BW 7.0 version SP level supported latest Windows server 2019 along with MS SQL 2019.
3. Is it possible to share the current SAP BW 7.0 version details?
Regards
SS
Transporting BW objects (metadata) from lower release to higher releases in general should work until the source and target release is within the same main release. See the consulting note:
2149282 - Cross-release transports of BW metadata
So a direct transport from 7.00 to 7.50 would be a problem.
