SAP Blue Crystal theme not supporting multi-monitor scaling awareness?

Dears,

I have currently switched on a 27" 4K monitor and my lovely SAP Blue Crystal theme it's not scaling proper. Unfortunately it does not have a multi-scaling monitor awareness option as Belize/Quartz have. Is there a way to scale it on a monitor like this proper?

I have already tried the "Override high DPI scaling behavior" option from the Compatibility settings in Windows and it did not help at all. I would say it even made it worse. If anyone can give a tips, please help! It's incredible small when it comes to tables, etc. Additionally, it does not even fulfill the screen completely.

I have currently SAP GUI 7.70 but I saw that not even on SAP GUI 8.0 this option is not existing.

Kind regards,

Alex

Hello Alex,
>Yet, it does not scale properly. E.g. in SE16 the columns don’t even spread on the whole screen and it’s very small overall.

This sounds as if you are confusing this feature with something else:
  • Multi-monitor scaling does not influence the usage of screen real-estate by SAP GUI for Windows - it just makes sure that the scaling is done by SAP GUI instead of the operating system. With this, SAP GUI windows and UI elements look better (more crisp) on each monitor and resolution. Additionally, when embedding SAP GUI in other application which use multi-monitor scaling, the SAP GUI window and objects will have the right sizes. And it is true that this feature is not available for older themes.
  • Another feature: In Belize and newer themes the SAP Fiori Features were introduced. These features include the automatic wide rendering of subscreens and tables and they are active if the respective SAP product (for example S/4HANA) supports them. This is what makes applications consume the full width of the SAP GUI window. I guess you are really referring to that. This feature is not available for old themes and will not become available for them.

Best regards,
Frank

Hello Frank,

My apologies if I mixed the terms. I will attach the screenshots in order to see the comparison between the 2 themes (Belize and Blue Crystal Theme) and what I actually meant. Overall, is there anything which I can do in order to improve the Blue Crystal Theme look? Based on your last reply I assume not, but I still hope it might be something.

Appreciate your input though!

Hello Alex,

The point is that Belize looks better (using the full width) because the metric in Belize is different and because Belize also uses a bigger font. If I remember correctly there is also a maximum width for subscreens. Maybe this maximum width is already reached in this case.

Best regards,
Frank

Please add below user registry setting parameter

reg add "HKCU\SOFTWARE\SAP\General\Appearance" /v MultiMonitorDpiAwareness /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

See the SAP GUI 800 Administration Guide.pdf
Multi-monitor scaling awareness (only available for Belize and Quartz Themes)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\General\Appearance]

MultiMonitorDpiAwareness (REG_DWORD) [Default: 0] {0 = inactive; 1 = active}

 Note

This function is only available as of Microsoft Windows 10 Version 1803 and corresponding Server/OS-Versions.

Hi Kamal,

Unfortunately I already have the mentioned settings active. Yet, it does not scale properly. E.g. in SE16 the columns don’t even spread on the whole screen and it’s very small overall.

I saw that not even SAP GUI 8.0 does not have the multi monitor scaling option for Blue Crystal Theme. This is a big minus as a lot of user still use it and consider it very friendly.
If anyone else can come with a tips, would be more than welcomed.

Kind regards,

Alex
