SAP B1 SDK and B1 Studio Installation

Hello,

i have a question regarding the SAP B1 SDK and SAP B1 Studio installation.

We are running SAP B1 on a windows server in a seperate VM.
I want to start learning how to develope for SAP B1 to expand on its functioality.
Do i need to install the SDK and Studio Suite inside the VM where the SAP Server is running?
Or can i install it on my local machine for development purposes?

If both ways are viable, which one is the preferable one?
If installing it locally is possible, would i need to install a separate server on my local machine, or is the client installation enough for that purpose?

Hello,

Technically SDK and Studio Suite installation is possible within the VM where server components are installed - as long as the software/hardware prerequisites are met.

Recommended way is to install the SDK/Studio Suite on a workstation/local machine to maintain the client/server topology. If your local machine suffices hardware/software requirements as per the Business One Studio Suite installation manual - a separate server on the local machine is not required.
