SAP Analytics Cloud Free Text Field/Dimension?

Is it possible to create a dimension that acts as a free text field? For certain projects, payment from the customer are contingent on certain milestones being met but what those milestones are called changes from project to project depending on the nature of the project and the contract.  My solution now is to create a dimension called 'Milestone' that the teams can load data to and they will have to tell me what to add every time they start a new project but was hoping to find a more efficient solution where the teams can be more independent and not wait on me to fulfill the new milestone name request.

Hello - so this can be achieved by:

1) Add Member functionality on the Milestone dimension, so that they can right click, and add new master data in this way:

2) You can write script which allows the user to create master data in a more structured way, for example if you want to force the update of certain properties or to auto-create the ID, for example. There are lots of blogs on this, here is one:

Thank you for your response. Do you know if that functionality works for the excel add-in? I don't see an add member button but wasn't sure if it was within a menu somehwhere.
