I want to link 2 data models via several dimensions. One dimension is based on a public dimension with a hierarchy.
I got the warning that this dimension is not usable for blending, only filtering. Is it because of hierarchy ? How could I solve the problem, I need blending and the hierarchy in the pubic dimension!
Thanks for help.

Hello rcg53721,
When you are linking dimensions you are performing either browser based blending (when one or all data source are live connection) or native blending (all import model).
Unfortunately you are not allowed to blend on Hierarchy columns yet. This is know limitation and you find find more details in help document here:

Reuest is created with respect to SAP BW live connection, thought restriction is with hiearchy is common across the board when it comes to blending.
Workaround : If you are on import model then you can try to duplicate this columns with a flat one and use that column for blending/ linking and the hierarchy for display in stories.
Don't forget to up-vote and accept, if it helped. 🙂

I think it is
I tried to blend on another member (not ID) of this hierarchy, but without access.
I will bring now this hierarchy ID as separate dimension into each modell. No other chance to blend the data.
thx Holger

Hi Nikihil, both modells have the same source system , MS SQL Server, only different views on this server. This could not be the reason.
