Fellow users,
I've created a Story based on a Model with a 'Live Connection' (so I can't change anything in the Model). In my Story, I have actual data going back a couple of months. Every document in SAP gets it's own 'Reference Document No'. There are 4 Ref Docs I want to exclude from my Story.
I'm trying to exclude them using a filter. So first, I have to select 'All members' and then 'deselect' the 4 Ref Docs. However, if I insert a filter (Page, Story, I tried both) I can't select 'All members' because it says:
Is there any way to achieve what I want in SAC?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Maybe you can apply a filter on day level and combine it with another filter which leaves only couple of members left to be displayed. Then your list of members for Ref Doc No should only display members which fit in the filter if cascading effect is turned on.

Hi Martijn,
thanks again for your time helping me out. Nothing seems to be working however. I've added filters, cascading effect on, and still I get all the members when I want to insert Ref Doc No as a Filter. I even have my Story at the point that I now have filtered a Ref Doc No an am given 'No Data is available to Render'. I shouldn't even be able to filter on that particular Ref Doc No in the first place...
I've taken a closer look to the list. My Ref Doc No is a 10 digit number and the first one on the list is 0000000001 - which isn't even in use, since none of our Ref Doc No ranges start with '00'. So it seems like what you said earlier applies: it simply shows all the Master Data instead of the Transaction Data.
Now, I was thinking about a workaround using a Linked Model. I uploaded a file containing 5 records: my 4 Ref Doc No's and " * ". I give them an extra Dimension saying 'Select' (the *) and 'Dont Select' (the 4 Ref Doc No's). I'm used to Qlikview and there I know this to work. However, it doesn't seem to work here. Am I simply trying to do something that's not possible or am I making a mistake?
Kind regards,
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
It looks like you are retrieving the dimension members from your master data instead of the transaction data. No BW expert, but I believe there is an option somewhere for the object you are using in the BW query where the LOV should be populated from. Otherwise, I can't explain that you see dimension members in which there is no transactional data for in your dataset.

Hi Martijn,
perhaps I explained wrong. There is data on those Ref Doc No in my Model, so it's OK that SAC shows them initially. However, as suggested, I used Story Filters to decrease the amount shown in my Story. After decreasing my Story like such, should SAC still be showing them? Shouldn't they be 'greyed out' or something?
Kind regards,
Stefan
Hi Stefan,
For all data sources except BW live the 4000 member limit was already implemented. Unfortunately, there were some performance issues identified and therefore this is not yet resolved for BW live. No date given yet by SAP.
My colleague @xavier.hacking has found a workaround using cascading filters:
- first add a filter to the story that limits the number of members to less than 4000 so you are able to add the filter with 'all' selected.
- second: add multiple filters that reduce the number of reference document numbers to less then 4000 if possible.
Kind regards,

Hi Martijn,
I'm starting to like my Live Connection less and less... I've tried your proposed solution (the first step), but even if I use Story Filters to downsize my data-set to almost nothing (one sales person, one month), I still see all the members when I want to add the "Ref Doc No" as a Story Filter, so I still can't add the filter with "all" selected. Really strange, it even gives me the Ref Doc No's of which I know for certain they aren't in the data-set I filtered, so if I select them, I get all zero's. Shouldn't SAC be hiding these measures, because they aren't compatible with my other Filters?
Kind regards,
Stefan
