SAC Analytic Application Designer - massive lags while typing code

Hello,

since yesterday, I experience massive lags while typing in my JavaScript Code. The time until my code is displayed in the IDE is 1-3 seconds, sometimes even more. The intellisense feature takes even 5-10 seconds to show up. A few times the browser did even not respond any more.

I tried different browsers, Chrome and Edge. I also tried a different laptop with the same result. I also tried it on different tenants, with the same experience. (I am on EU10)

It seems that with Mozilla Firefox, the problem is not existing. The typed characters are shown instantly and also the intellisense is displaying in no time.

Has anyone experienced the same issues?

I have contacted the support and they said it is a chrome / edge issue with version 111.

I downloaded an old version of chromium and now it works.

Hope this bug is getting fixed by the chromium dev team.

Cause

• Chromium regression issue. The following issues are currently open with the Chromium project:
  • Issue 1425169 - Chrome 111 Performance impacted by Recalculate Styles including many more selectors ...
  • Issue 1426750: :nth-child() invalidation regression
• This is not due to an update or change from SAC.

Resolution

• This has been resolved in an SAP Analytics Cloud client patch irrespective of the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers.
• The new SAC version will say the following under the System > About dialogue window in SAP Analytics Cloud:

• Versions
  2023.2.12 (Client)
  2023.2.11 (Server)

If your SAC version does not say 2023.2.12 (Client) AND you are using Google Chrome, you will need to upgrade to Google Chrome version 111.0.5563.145 or higher.

If your SAC version does not say 2023.2.12 (Client) AND you are using Microsoft Edge, you will need to wait for a Microsoft Edge patch that includes the Chromium bug fixes 1425169 / 1426750.

I assumed it was the annoying Zscaler which runs on our machines as this slows SAC down at the best of times.

Hi, I am also facing this problem. I have done some optimizations like reducing the number of charts and using one chart for multiple visuals. and also removed all replaceable objects. therefore I realised minor improvement.

I believe there was a server degradation yesterday. Things seem to be better this morning. (3/17).
