Dear Experts,
Currently, our SAP systems based on Oracle Database using the "Whole Database Backup" but we would like to implement RMAN Backups inorder to use the "Incremental Backup" functionality.
We understood that, it is possible to implement the RMAN backups (full + incremental) to store them on local disk. But it is also possible using BRBACKUP to copy these Backups later to remote server (Backup Server) "disk"? I mean instead of copying these backups to "Tape" based on the below information from SAP Help:
https://help.sap.com/doc/saphelp_nw74/7.4.16/de-DE/47/41b8d160cd2207e10000000a155369/frameset.htm (RMAN Incremental Backups Without a Backup Library)
Actually, our intention here is to move the older backups from the "local disk" to the "backup server" on the basis of rentention period.
Thanks & best regards
Sreenivas
Hello Martins,
Thank you for the proposal.
Once the backup files are stored on the local disk. Instead of using NIX, can we also use the windows specific service like "Distributed File System Replication" (DFS) or command-line tool like "Robocopy", right? I mean for copying the backup files from local disks to remote server disks.
Best regards
Sreenu

My opinion is that the best option is to use a script to copy the backups to remote server.
In *NIX world you have a very good tool to do that that's rsync...
