Right-Click not appearing when editing a report in Visual Studio 2017

3,588

I just installed Visual Studio 2017 and downloaded the most recent version of the Crystal Reports for Visual Studio. After installing I then rebooted as per instructions. All of my files from Visual Studio 2010 were placed into a new Branch to work with VS 2017. When I open a report to edit it and right click on a field, the drop-down menu flashes and then disappears. The Visual Studio About form just says Crystal Reports for .NET Framework. The references show the version as 13.03500.0 in both Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2017. The Right-Click works in Visual Studio 2010.

Does anybody have any idea of how to fix this?

Thanks, Neil

Hi Neil,

You don't need to uninstall all versions, I have VS 2010, 2015, 2017 and 2019 and it all works for me.

@Sam, CR for BusinessOne is an OEM version of Crystal Reports and CR for VS and you should not be using the latest version, only use the version B1 Uses/Installs from the Client tools instlal...

To clarify, You can only have one version of CR for VS installed, you can have multiple versions of VS installed.

Back to Neil, that problem is a known issue, but I did not here that it was a problem if VS 2019 was not installed. I'll let R&D know this new info also.

Also, if you search you can find more info on the subject.

As a work around, either go back to SP 24, VS 2019 not supported in that version, or use the full version of Crystal Designer to edit your reports.

FYI - The embedded Report Designer in Visual Studio is called CR Basic, it's old technology that is only there for quick tests, it does not fully support all features the full version has.

To get a trial version of CRD go here:
