Restrict Display of Navigational Attributes ????

Is anybody aware of any techniques (i don't think there are any) whereby I can restrict access to the display of a navigational attribute.

We have a nav attr. of 0MATERIAL which we have been told must only be visible for a certain group of users. The majority of users must not be able to see this field.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Dave,

If you can make that Info Object authorization relevant,

users will be able to see material master tables in backed ut not this field unless they have authorizations..

In case of queries they will be able to run queries with material info object till they don`t try and pull in the nav attr. unless they have auth.

So it can be achieved by Info Object specific authorization..

By restrict display do you mean in a query or restrict display in query designer?

Authorizations on navigational attributes work in similar manner to auth on a charactersitic. However, I don't think it is possible to say display material but do not display a particular navigational attribute of that material.

If it is in reporting, then a quick way would be not to put the navigational attribute in selected queries and give access to that query to a restricted group.
