Recommended APIs to connect CAP App with S/4HANA and Materials Management

Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing a cloud application on SAP BTP Build Code using CAP (Node.js) and CDS models. The app is part of a supply management use case, and I’m now at the point where I’d like to connect it to S/4HANA, and then specifically the Materials Management (MM) module to trigger supply orders.

I’ve explored the SAP Business Accelerator Hub and found several APIs (e.g., API_MATERIAL_STOCK_SRV, API_PURCHASEREQUISITION_PROCESS_SRV, API_MATERIAL_DOCUMENT_SRV), but I’m unsure which are the officially recommended or most commonly used for backend integration scenarios like this one.

Does anyone have experience connecting a CAP service to MM-related APIs in S/4HANA (cloud or on-prem)?

I’d appreciate any recommendations, best practices, or example implementations.
