Hi Everybody,

in the latest PAM for the platform "SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence" (version 4.2 and 4.3) is reported also the databases supported for "CMS + Audit Repository" (screenshot below).

In particular, regarding "Microsoft SQL Server", we see the "Version", but we don't see the "Edition" (for example Standard, Enterprise, Developer, etc.).

Is it possibile to know the exact supported "Editions" of "Microsoft SQL Server"?

Thanks in advance!

Best Regards

Hi everybody,

first of all happy new year!

Sorry but I still need to know if there is an official documentation where is reported the exactly versions of "SQL Server Editions" (Enterprise, Standard, Developer, Express, etc.) supported as "CMS + Audit Repository" for "SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence" platform (4.2 and 4.3).

Above all, I need to know if "SQL Server Express Edition" is supported (regardless of performance or anything else).

Thanks in advance.

Marino

I don't think it matters. I have successfully run both 4.2 and 4.3 in VMs on SQL Server Express. Of course, you wouldn't want to do that in a production system. What's important is that you need to be able to back up and restore the database - I don't think the edition matters.

Hi Siriam,

do you mean this phrase?

"SAP recommends that you use an enterprise database system such as SAP Hana, Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server. For more information, see Third-Party Compatibility."

If yes, I believe that the term "enterprise" in that contexct is referred to the type of database (in fact is referred generically to all that databases) and not to the "Edition" of "Microsoft SQL Server"

Thanks

Hi Marino,

The Enterprise database means includes MS SQL servers, first, you can check in a Google search, what is the difference between MS SQL Standard and Enterprise version? and see the limitations.

Hi Manuel,

is there an official documentation where this information is reported?

Sorry, but I ask this because we need an official info to demonstrate it to our customers.

Thanks

Sorry for my previous comment, I could validate it on the SAP Netweaver or SAP BPC products.

For the BO platform, I couldn't get any info regarding the MSSQL editions, so I should assume that everyone is accepted and the focus should be on the NATIVE CLIENT version.
