Question regarding the installation of DAA in a clustered environment

Hi All,

We've implemented HANA DB in a clustered setup across Node A and Node B, while ASCS and ERS are installed on Server A and Server B in a clustered configuration. Now, my next step is to perform Managed System Configuration for these systems within SOLMAN.

To proceed:

1.DAA installation is required on each server, including each node in the clustered environment (Node A, Node B, Server A, Server B, Server C, Server D).
2.Please confirm whether I should use ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<virtualname> or simply ./sapinst on the cluster node.
3.Also, please confirm whether I can use ./sapinst alone to install DAA on the Application servers (Server C and Server D).

Regards
Appuru

Hi Appuru,

I would request you to go through the below links and decide on the diagnostics installation process.

Agent-on-the-fly for HA Support | SAP Help Portal

1365123 - Installation of Diagnostics Agents - SAP for Me - check attachment.

Please pay special attention to physical/virtual hosts and logical hosts setup in your scenario. Apply below general rules for agents on the fly installation:

In a HA (Switchover scenario) context: For ASCS/ERS and DB.

Install on ALL Physical or Virtual Hosts (part of the group) one Diagnostics Agent (latest version, see prerequisites section) without specifying any Logical hostname in SWPM.

- No further diagnostics agent required on any logical hosts.

Outside HA (Switchover scenario) context: For App servers.

- If no logical hostname is used on physical/virtual host, then install only one diagnostics agent per host without specifying any logical hostname in SWPM.

- If low number of logical hosts run on physical/virtual host, then install one diagnostics agent per logical hostname and specify relevant logical hostname in SWPM.

- If high number of logical hosts run on physical/virtual host, then install one diagnostics agent on the underlying physical/virtual host without specifying any logical hostname in SWPM.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Kishan
