Hi,
Using Property Filter you can also dynamically populate properties, for example take the Discussion Filters in portal which determines the number of discussion topics and posts and shows them dynamically at runtime.

Hi Boopalan,
Repository filters in KM are used to automatically perform specified operations on resources whenever these resources are accessed. Repository filters can affect the content, the properties, the visibility, or the URIs of resources in a repository.
the following are the types of filters available:
· Content Filter
· Property Filter
· Namespace Filter
We use property filters to manipulate properties of documents and folders and to control which properties are visible to users. For example, we can write a property filter that changes a document property that in turn triggers a workflow.
For more about its features this link will help you.:
Hope this will help you.
Regards,
Shaila
