Dear community,
I need a clarification regarding the review of profile parameters.
The use case is the following:
I am reviewing profile parameters using both methods below:
- Client-side via the RZ11 transaction and specifying the name of the required profile parameter to review.
- Server-side via the sapcontrol command.
When reviewing a certain value for a profile parameter client-side using RZ11 I have 4 values displayed: Kernel Default, Default Profile, Instance Profile and Current Value.
However, when reviewing value using the 'sapcontrol -nr <instance_number> -function CheckParameter <Profile_name> I only have 6values which are kernel_value, default_value, profile_value, default_definition, kernel_definition, profile_definition and definition_mask.
You can see in the screenshots provided below as an example that for the profile parameter sapgui/user_scripting I can not check the 'current value' using sapcontrol. Using RZ11 I see the value 'TRUE' displayed however I can not find this information using sapcontrol. Where is the 'current' value stored server-side ?
For information I'm logged on GUI on client 00 and the screenshot provided for sapgui/user_scripting value using sapcontrol is the same for the Instance profiles 01, 00 and DEFAULT.
My understanding is that the modification made using transaction codes on GUI is dynamic, but my question is how to track and reinforce the usage of certain profile parameters values by applying changes with sapcontrol ? Could you please provide more insight on this matter ?
Many thanks in advance.
