In my consumer portal if I go to "User Managemert" and search for roles "*" from my producer portal and nothing gets returned, then I must not have j2ee_guest priviledges configured correctly in the producer, right?

In fact I think you need user management privilages in the producer portal.

In the producer i can see my consumer:

Sys Admin | Federated Portal | Myself as Content Producer | View My Consumers

In the producer I have content permissions assigned to:

portal content - Everyone(group)

and down the tree structure to the object "demo" that has permissions - role: vc_user with end user

also

wsrp content producers - Everyone(group)

In user management i have:

role: vc_user and users are assinged as well as j2ee_guest.

users assigned to role vc_user can login the producer and see the objects.

So ... I don't know what else permission need to be given there

I also have j2ee_guest priviledges on the soap bridge like:

a. Navigate to the permission using the following:

b. System Admin -> Permissions -> Portal Permissions -> Security Zones -> sap.com -> NetWeaver Portal -> com.sap.portal.ivs.global.bridge

c. Right click and open permissions, give the j2ee_guest end user

Anyone see this before? I noticed that I did not have the group "authenticated user" on the consumer portal for j2ee_guest. I'm going to make that change.

I was attempting to remove the group "authenticated user" from my j2ee_guest using Visual Administrator in the Security Provider | User Management tab and it wouldn't let me.

Paul,

You said "In fact I think you need user management privilages in the producer portal."

Re-looking at this thread what additional actions do you think I should take?

Ok, here is what I changed to enable me to see the "producer roles" while logged in to the consumer.

In the "producer" sys admin | sys config | service config | applications then the portal pcd:

com.sap.portal.ivs.wsrpservice/services/AutoGenProducer1_0

I had specified the content_root_folder with an entry like: "portal_content/com.mycomp.xyz/com.mycomp.blah"

and when I changed it to just "portal_content" and restarted then it was good to go and i could then from within my consumer portal find the roles I needed and assign them from "User Management".

WaaaaHooo, federation !!!
