Pricing Determination in SAP S/4HANA On-Premise System

Hello SAP Community,

I am currently working with SAP S/4HANA On-Premise system and have a question regarding pricing determination.

Pricing Determination: I understand that there is an existing pricing determination routine in SAP S/4HANA. However, I am curious to know if this is the only way to implement pricing in SAP S/4HANA On-Premise system. Is it possible to use other methods for pricing determination? Can this be used as an alternative to the old pricing determination routine? As we are planning to do in Clean core way.

As per traditional way we can implement the Calculation routine using VOFM Tcode and configure the same in Pricing procedure.

The VOFM-requirements and formulas are replaced by BAdI-Calls, have a look at SAP-help/Cloud:

Hello Padmakar,

As of now there is no alternative(until and unless the whole Pricing Procedure/Function becomes some API based mechanism) for the requirement which you have stated other than going for Pricing Routine. Am really not able to understand why we need to deviate from this existing well established setup in Core with something else.

Regarding 'Clean core way' please understand it would not always be possible to stick with this. And moreover you need to understand that it mainly relies on using as much as Standard APIs possible and also moving out the requirements like having a Custom Table outside the Core ERP and have the same in BTP layer ( again if the scope for the same is there) . Pricing is something internally which happens inside S4 Core and already SAP has provided a Well defined Provision for the same, so why to deviate from the same. Likewise there would still be instances where are bound to implement BADIs and other Enhancements for getting Business specific requirements done.
