Preactive Key already exists : Failed to create new persistence/log root key

Hi Team,

We had encrypted our QUA HANA Database for Data Volume, Log Volume and Data/Log backup encryption.

We have now restored newly built PREPROD Database from this encrypted QUA Database and facing some issues while doing encryption for PREPROD Database.

While trying to create new root keys without activate option, we are getting below error message.

The reason is because after restore, keys from QUA are present in the PREPROD Database.

Could someone please let us know how can we get rid of old root keys that are coming from QUA system and create new root keys for preprod system.

Hi Manoj,

First activate the PREACTIVE root keys and try to generate the new root keys with the activated root keys.

Please use the following guides to create the new root keys for your volume encryption on the PREPROD DB.

• ALTER SYSTEM PERSISTENCE ENCRYPTION Statement
• Generate New Root Keys
