Portal in Netweaver

The top most layer of Netweaver is Enterprise Portal..

and Portal is not new, It has been developed by various big company's like SUN,IBM,BEA..etc, All these ppl have been successful in capturing the high-end customers..rather it has become that Portal is for big company's.

With this situation prevailing in the market and SAP getting in to Small Business Solution..Will the current Netweaver solution would fit into that??..how it is going to work out for Asian markets where u have lot of mid size company's.

You raise a valid point that there are many medium sized businesses in Asia Pacific.

For that reason, and for other reasons, we have specifically designed the SAP Rapid Installer to help improve the speed with which SAP NetWeaver can quickly be deployed for customer projects. The Rapid Installer allows standard configuration options to be selected which significantly speeds up the time that a partner or customer can get NetWeaver deployed.

I would also suggest that we get you engaged with our team in APA to discuss the specific customer requirements you have to determine what is the best solution for that situation. Perhaps you might consider attending one of the NW tour stops in your area to find out more about NetWeaver and meet some of the local SAP field people. SAP is very much involved in SMB and midmarket activities. Specifically, we launched SAP Business One last year to support our small and medium size companies and we also have offerings for our mid market size companies including SAP All in One and packaged solutions which are industry focused and include best practices. SAP NetWeaver also addresses the small and midsize market.

We have recently announced the SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer, a suite of pre-configured SAP NetWeaver front-end components that simplifies the implementation and deployment of SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0. SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer enables SAP customers to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) by reducing SAP Enterprise Portal installation and deployment time to a minimum of 2 hours.

SAP NetWeaver Rapid Installer is shipped on a DVD and a wizard helps the administrator install the portal platform, knowledge management, and collaboration capabilities, as well as the application server (Java). In addition, it installs business packages and connects to back-end systems such as mySAP CRM and SAP BW with minimal or no post-installation configuration required.

A model-based sizing approach provides recommendations for the supported business scenarios, ensuring a high-performance and reliable environment. Version 1.0 supports the small 'T-Shirt' sizing model which is ideal for SMB and mid market companies as well as the Asian market needs.
