Hi everyone,
I have a WebI document in our DEV environment that I am trying to transport to PROD.
When I try I get the message:
Commit Status=Commit attempted and failed., Promotion Status=Failure : Object has failed to promote. Please see the log for more details
But where do I find this log that has more detail?
As background, the document in PROD is corrupt and I want to replace it with the working copy from DEV. Perhaps the fact that the PROD document is banjaxed is the issue but I don't know.
Many thanks
Gill
How is the report being promoted? Are you performing a Live to BAIR setup or is it a Live -live scenario.
The test promotion setup will give some usefull Information.
Also as the issue is only about promoting a single report, it would be a lot easier to import the report in webi rich client tool from and then export the same to production. I believe that would be a good workaround.

Well to understand what is going wrong we will need to investigate the server which is performing the promotion management job. If you are using promotion management from DEV, a trace for the LCM service would be needed to identify the same. Splitting the APS promotion management services will help in multiple ways. One of them would be tracing and obtaining only the useful logs.
You will be find the logs in logging folder in Server.
Make sure both Dev and PROD are in same patch levels while transporting the objects

Hello,
The default logging folder is located here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging
Please check if logging is enabled for the promotion management services. The APS & AJS servers are hosting those services by default.
Thanks & Regards,
Insaf
