Hi Folks,
I just wanted to check. Say, we have a folder structure in CMC:
Public Folder ->
Parent Folder
-parent_content_1
-parent_content_2
-parent_content_3
-> Child Folder
-child_content_1
-child_content_2
Now, we would like know.. is there any way to to hide the Parent Folder and its contents, but the Child Folder and its contents can still be accessed/viewed?
We are currently using SAP BI 4.1 SP2
Kind Regards and Many Thanks,
Mark
You have two alternatives:
A) Use Categories instead
b) Use BI Workspaces with the navigation panel to setup your own independent folder structure for browsing.
Note, that both option still require propper setting of security at the leaf folder and its parent folders involved.

Hi Mark,
I think we can achieve this; however the drawback of this kind of security structure is..user has to use search option to find the report every time because parent folder wouldn't be visible to him; ultimately a user won't be able to navigate between folder structure. Only search option can return desired report.

Hi Mark,
In order to allow a user access to Child folder, it needs to have access to Parent folder first. Having said that, you can restrict the access to the content within the Parent folder.
It will work this way, grant View Objects and uncheck "Apply to sub-objects". This will restrict the access to Parent folder only. After that you can give the access to the required contents.
Hope this helps !
