Dear Support,
We are planning a technological renewal of our operating system infrastructure.
Our SAP system is SAP ECC on NW 7.4 SP16 with PERSON_NAME DB version 2.00.059.PHONE_NUMBER
We are planning an upgrade from RHEL 7.x to 9.x - with clustering of ASCS and ERS resources.
We also have two application servers (PAS and AAS) on different server.
Following this guide:
https://access.redhat.com/articles/3569681#overview to realize ASCS/ERS cluster.
This is the question: based on above guide (paragraph 2.3) PAS and AAS are installed on separated servers besides of ASCS/ERS cluster servers, we ask you to confirm that we can install PAS and AAS on the same servers of ASCS/ERS cluster. Please we kindly request your feedback
Request clarification before answering.
Yes, you can install PAS (Primary Application Server) and AAS (Additional Application Server) on the same servers as ASCS/ERS cluster. However, it's important to note that this configuration may not be optimal for performance and high availability.
The ASCS (ABAP SAP Central Services) and ERS (Enqueue Replication Server) are critical components of the SAP system, and they are usually installed on separate servers to ensure high availability and performance. If you install the PAS and AAS on the same servers, they will compete for resources with the ASCS and ERS, which could potentially impact the performance and availability of your SAP system.
Therefore, while it's technically possible to install PAS and AAS on the same servers as ASCS/ERS cluster, it's generally recommended to install them on separate servers for optimal performance and high availability.
However, your specific requirements and constraints may dictate otherwise. If you have limited hardware resources, or if your SAP system is not heavily used, then installing PAS and AAS on the same servers as ASCS/ERS cluster might be a viable option.
In any case, you should carefully evaluate your specific needs and constraints before making a decision.
