Hi,

I'm a bit astonished with the answers.

Is parameter file i.e pfile (init<SID>.ora) exits at $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ location ?

There is nowhere anything related to a pfil. The "wrong location" is for the parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST

Also as per below check your password try connecting to

sqlplus as SAPR3 to confirm if your password is incorrect it seems to be a problem as well.

** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1034'

4 ETW000                                                                              99  0.417782

4 ETW000  [dev trc     ,00000]  Try to connect with default password                1237  0.419019

4 ETW000  [dev trc     ,00000]  Connecting as SAPSR3/<pwd>@DEV on connection 0 (nls_hdl 0)

I would start with the missing environment variables it would also affect why you log_Arch and the parameter file is not being read.

a bit better but still way off. There is no password problem, the problem is the ORA-1034, which can be reproduced with sqlplus. Environment variables are not an issue here as they are related to SAP and the database

1 is not started

2 cannot be started

Brindavan is the only one that is "almost" there.

Unfortunately he assumes the value of the parameter and other things

So.

Lets see the REAL issue here:

Sql Error::::-

C:\Documents and Settings\devadm>sqlplus / as sysdba

if there is an issue already on ORACLE LEVEL, SAP will not work

You are in windows and 10.2.0.1

=> This was never supported by SAP, and of course, ECC6 is not supported in such DB

=> This is out of support

Question, why you try to install such combination. Please try 11.2.0.4

Lets continue. The DB is not started:

Connected to an idle instance.

this means that ANY quey will fail:

SQL> select from v$database;

select from v$database

*

ERROR at line 1:

ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

Ohhhh, error 1034, It is the SAME error R3trans is getting there you have the reason you cannot connect to the DB and the error you get

you try to start the DB and fails:

ORA-16032: parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST destination string cannot be translated

There you have the reason it fails

1) that parameter is obsolete and you are using it. Delete it

2) replace that parameter for the proper one (LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1) and set it to an EXISTING LOCATON.

The location cannot be a MOUNTED disk drive as the user will not have that mounted drive. It has to be an existing location, fixed one.

Review that and try to start Oracle again.

Yes of-course the issue is completely related with the parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1,just tested at my end & found issue with the wrong or non-existent path for the specified parameter under init<SID>.ora .

There is nowhere anything related to a pfil.

Somewhere related with the parameter file,as he needs to maintain the correct path value (e.g log_archive_dest_1 = 'LOCATION=/oracle/<SID>/oraarch/<SID>arch' )  for the parameter to start the Database.

you said in your original reply:

Is parameter file i.e pfile (init<SID>.ora) exits at $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ location ? Provide the path for pfile & try again with start of DB.

which has absolutely nothing to do with the issue. that is what I refer to.

Of course, you can "defend" that ANY issue related with a parameter is related to the pfile(spfile) .

Ok, if you need to be correct, I give you that

I don't want to be correct here as i said the issue is completely related with the parameter which you mentioned i.e log_archive_dest_1,so for me your answer is correct here & completely hits for the solution of this thread.

Hi All,

Thanks for the valuable comments to share here. It's happening while i logged on adm user in that time oracle failed but when i logged on administrator account that time oracle able to connect and database also mounted mode.

Above logs are shared from adm user not administrator. After installing, sap mmc was started successfully in administrator account but i am not able to loggin sap* user from 000 client so i tried to reset sap* user from database as command line but not done. I changed the value (login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0) only in instance profile after that i tried this (SQL>Delete from USR02 where MANDT='000' and BNAME='SAP*) here i faced one issue from sql.

So then i tried this from adm loggin & error as given above.

System : Windows 2003 server

Database : Oracle 10G.

So kindly what need to do for resolving this. Please make me confirm the steps which will help me to resolve this.

Regards

Abhijit.

hi,

If oracle "starts" with a user and do not start with another user because it is not able to "find" the physical location where to put the archived redo log is because that location exist for one user and do not exist for another user (common sense)

I already mentioned that this parameter, or any parameter (oracle or not oracle), MUST refer to a "real" location

2) replace that parameter for the proper one (LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1) and set it to an EXISTING LOCATON.

The location cannot be a MOUNTED disk drive as the user will not have that mounted drive. It has to be an existing location, fixed one.

also , both users MUST have authorizations for that location,

You are getting below error:

C  *** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '1034'

please check SAP note 491174 - Composite SAP note for ORA-01034

Hello Abhjit,

First check and set the archive log parameter as mentioned by Fidel. Then try to login ORA_SID account as well and try to execute the command as you need. Still your database is not available

as showed in below error.

"

B  ***LOG BY0=> ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist [dblink#3 @ 431] [dblink  0431 ]

M  ***LOG R19=> ThInit, db_connect ( DB-Connect 000256) [thxxhead.c   1403]

M  in_ThErrHandl"

Thanks,

Hi all,

Thanks to all. I have checked my site as based on your comments that help to identify the issue & resolve this. Actually, while i started installing ECC6 with external HDD archive path was defined with ext drive and after completing time, i unplugged the ext drive so that archive path disconnected with database that's why database failed to start.

Thanks to all & SCN keep supporting me.....

Hello Abhjit,

Check the directory " /oracle/SID/orrach" have permission to write the arch-logs.

In windows Go to the directory " oracle/SID" --> select orrach then right click go to properties--> then click security and give permission for the user which your running the installation.

In unix  got the file-system " oracle/SID and give full permission for orrach command chmod777.

Once you have done this activities then continue the installation. I believe right now your in ABAP R3Load. In this stage unload/loads ABAP table data from into the database process will go. If you stop here then you have to clean and restart installation.

share more information regrading this issue.

Thanks,

BM
