It depends on a lot of factors, but you can schedule the most simplest backups via DB13 transaction. It is very straightforward, just double-click on the calendar and choose the backup type you wish to execute (online,offline, complete or full,etc.). You can even choose recurring backup if you wish.
But of course you can run brbackup (the executable of BR*Tools to backup the database) on the command line as well. To do that you have to specify certain arguments to make it work.
