On what basis Aggregate creation depends

1.On what basis aggregates needs to create?

2.pls give me one real time example?

Hi,

We create aggregates when execution and navigating query data lead to delays when using a group of queries. When we want to expidite the execution and navigation of a specific query and frequent use of attributes. Also when we want to expidite reporting using char hierarchies in which you aggregate specific hierarchy levels.

This all leads improvement in query performance.
