Netweaver administration and SAP Web Application Server r the same?

Hi All,

I am a Basis Consultant & new to Netweaver,..

I am interested in Netweaver administration..

1.I am confused wheather netweaver administration and SAP Web Application Server r the same?(or WAS is just another component of Netweaver).

2.Do we need to administrate all the components of Netweaver(EP,BI,etc.,)seperately as an Netweaver Administrator?

You must first download and read this document and then read 'help.sap.com' for what is netweaver.

The above mentioned document is a crisp guide to what is WAS.

Further I got this from the sdn/netweaver webpage

Hi Malti, for a basis guy this type of question shouldn't arise, any way'z, Sap web application server is the platform for all the Sap components from web as 6.10. Administering web as is similar with respect to < Sap r/3 4.7E.

It includes Java stack which is a add-in for Abap system. So Web AS means Web+ (R/3) Application server. It can be administerd anywhere provided your'e authorized.

Netweaver lays open platform for developing applications, and many more in industry open standards. Netweaver includes Ep, Xi, Mdm, Kw, bpm etc. Administering netweaver means you can expertise in the above modules or whole netweaver architecture.

Conclusion: you have to install web as from mysap erp2004 or more. Netweaver powers mysap erp produtcts.

As i am interested in Netweaver administration..

I want to know whether ...does netweaver administration of all the components(EP,XI..)differ from each other..

So,do v need to master the administartion of diff components seperatly???
