Multiple Hiearchy nodes in Analysis for Excel

Is there a way to insert into an analysis for excel at one time off a single object.  An example would be 2 hierarchies built of gl_account..  Meaning I insert Node A from Hierarchy 1 and node B from hierarchy 2.

I have spent 2hours searching and can't find an answer on the SDN anywhere for this type of example.

Hi Matt,

you have to create 2 Hierarchy node variables in your query and combine them with the 2 hierarchies.

If you want to have the hierarchies also flexible, you will need 2 hierarchy variables.

For display in the query you can choose only one of the 2 hierarchies.

A good example would be using GL account.  Below I created 2 hiearchies, but in analysis I want to show as the 3rd layout

Hier 1

  Node 1

  Node 2

Hier 2

  Node 3

  Node 4

In analysis I want to see

Node 1

Node 3

Hi Matt,

if you want to use one query as the basis for this report it will not be possible.

You can use several hierarchies for selections but only one hierarchy for display in the query.

So either one query - one hierarchy

or

two quereis - two hierarchies

and you have to put them above each other in the workbook.

Hi Matt Guthrie,

In analysis Office at a time you can activate only one hierarchy for dimension

i would suggest to create one hierarchy as per below layout

Hier

     Node1

     Node2

     Node3

     Node4

If it is in the above layout, you can use Hierarchy->Show level and then you can select only Node1 & Node3 to achieve your layout using below dialog

Subhash

We actually ended up merging all hierarchies under 1 parent.  Thank you all for your help!

Hi Matt,

If you are using Analysis Office 2.0, you can do a smart copy between workbooks - see

On second review though I am not sure this meets your needs.  Would you mind using the camera icon to upload a screen shot of what you are trying to accomplish?  Maybe that would give others some ideas.
