MSSQL and note 1966701 - Setting up Microsoft SQL Server 2014

Hi,

I've got an exisiting ECC 6.0 EHP5 landscape on Win 2008R2 + MSSQL 2008R2:

Now we would like to move each instance on new VMs as Win2019 + MSSQL 2014 (source compatibility PAM).

From note number 1966701 I read that I must apply whole SUPPORT PACKAGE STACK 14... but in the past, I remeber, that I can apply only SAP_BASIS (or at last also SAP_ABA) for new MSSQL release compatibility.

Can I install only SAP_BASIS SP14? ... or whole SUPPORT PACKAGE STACK 14 is the only way?

Thank you.

HI,

Minimum SAP requirements for installing SAP NetWeaver systems on Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (Enterprise Edition) are indicated in following SAP note,

1966681 - Release planning for Microsoft SQL Server 2014 -->
--> "Required minimum SAP Netweaver Support Package Stacks (SPSs) for SQL Server 2014 (SAP ABAP or SAP ABAP+JAVA stacks)"

Riccardo

Hello Ganimede,

My recommendation is that you upgrade your system so high up to your infrastructure allows according to PAM, once you got your system upgraded then proceed with the migration process to he new infrastructure, for that use the database specific procedure described in the SWPM guide.

Some Sps has codependency between them wouldn't be prudent upgrading only a single component.
