msi install for Crystal Reports for VS 2010 - Known Problems

There are a couple of known issues with the SP2 msi install for Crystal Reports for VS 2010.

Problem 1 (discussed in thread: http://scn.sap.com/thread/2070182)
This had been acknowledged in SAP's [1535811 - Error 1402 when installing CRVS2010 running CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_b...

But as reported later, the suggested "solution" (manually editing the msi) invalidates the msi file, so it's not a real solution.

Problem 2 (discussed in thread: http://scn.sap.com/thread/2126147)
This is due the msi install failing to recognize a later install of the C++ Redistributable from Microsoft (they now have separately names 32-bit & 64-bit versions like this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable  - 10.0.40219 - 12/8/2011
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x86 Redistributable  - 10.0.40219 - 12/8/2011
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

and the SAP install prerequisite checking logic doesn't recognize them because it is looking for the old reditributable.

Is there an expected date for getting an updated version of the msi and/or the prerequisite definition with fixes for these 2 issues?

Thanks,
- Ido

Hello Ido

I've pinged the Program Manager as well as couple of other people. Kind of looks to me like these are issues that should have been reported for a fix when they came up in the forum threads you reference. If everyone I pinged agrees, I'll escalate these to get the issues fixed. I'll get back to you once I have the "pingee" feedback.

Hello Ido

Got one good piece of news; the first issue ( Error 1402 when installing CRVS2010) is actually reported as fixed in SP 3 (not sure of the ETA, but it's "close"...). I'm still trying to find out about the second issue.

Hi Ludek,

That's good news.  The 2nd issue is probably just a matter of figuring out a change in the XML file.

Thanks!
