Model missing in 'search to insights'

Hi!

With my SAC trial version I created different models with 'index model' option ticked and no data access control or privacy enabled. However I am just able to find the first model I created in 'search to insights'.

Is that a limitation of the trial version or am I missing something?

Thx!

Hello tobi_gg

There are no restriction on trial account. Usually when you are inside a model or have used searched to insight already once, it show models from cache. Like in my case it showing only two models.

You can still select other models.
If you start fresh then "Chose a model" will appear a tile on the center of the screen.
Beside you you are inside a story already and trying to choose model, you can click on model icon (cube)> then an option - "search all available models" will appear on top> click on it and you get an option to "choose a model"

You can try this from home screen as well, click the light bulb on top right corner.

Note : Trial account only let you use smart features (including Smart Insight) is only allowed on the models provided in the trail account. If you build something from scratch then it wont appear. Restriction is based on "created by" So even if you copy model, smart function will filter out.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any query around this topic.

Hi,

You can choose a model from here:

If you can't find any model here then you should turn on the INDEX MODEL option in

Access and Privacy from Model Preference

Sandip Kumar.

I am having the same issue on our SAC system, and we are not on the trial version.

Create a model, turn on index, load some data, and the model still is not appearing as an option in the Search to Insights menu. On top of this, Smart Insights also do not work properly in stories.

Perhaps something is going wrong in the index creation step. I don't know how we would check this.

Some other models do seem to work, and it's not clear what the difference is. My expectation is that if you have enabled the index, any model should be available in S2I.

Any input from SAP gurus out there?

Same problem here.

Some models show up in the Search to Insight model selection, some don't.

All models work on acquired data, not live.

All have "Search to Insight" enabled and "Model Data Privacy" disabled.

I made a copy of a working model and it does not work either.

@Ellliot Bajema - have you perhaps found a solution?

Hi bharok,

No, still nothing. I even tried a few science experiments: creating a model without index initially, loading data, then turning on index, to see if that was any different from having the index activated from the beginning. Planning vs analytical models. Models imported from file vs source... all of them the same - not visible in Search to Insights. Very strange, with no explanations offered so far.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

I did several tests as well. Even compared working/not working models json description that is retrieved when I use "Choose the model .." button . They seem to be identical. My observations are:

- the problem affects both planning and analytical models,

- dasets can be used for S2I while models built from them not,

- it's not related to the data size - even very small ones are not indexed,

- rebuilding a model does not help either

- turning indexing of/on and re-deploying does not help.

Hi Elliot,

I believe you are using EU10 tenant. This is due to S2I disabled on local models by default. You can raise a case with us and I'll help you get this enabled on your tenant. Please do mention the tenant URL in the case and I'll help with the rest.

Thanks,

Amit

It worked, thank you amit.mathur !

It would be great to have a warning in the model maintenace, next to the indexing toggle.

@ebajema1 I did it via incident reporting https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#incident/create. I had it activated within 24h.

Thanks both for your input. Indeed after raising an incident, the back-end team were able to switch the appropriate toggle setting and now this is up and running. Kind Regards.

We are facing the same issue - is this a known bug? What was the toggle setting - could you please elaborate

Thanks

tanisha.gupta20 according to the thread above, this is a deliberate default setting from SAP. Changing it requires raising an incident via https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#incident/create. If you tell them the URL of the tenant you're on, they are able to change the setting for you to enable this.

Hi Debjit,

thx for your quick answer. In my case the models do not appear in "Chose a model":

This is what I see if I search for models via "Browse/ Files/ ..." e.g. SALES_MODEL

If I select "Chose a model" in search to insight then SALES_MODEL does ot appear.

Kind regards,

Tobi

Hello tobi_gg,You mentioned you can see one model but in your screenshot non are available.

Did you changed sharing rights on these models?
What happens when you try this from inside a story. Say you try to create a new story by selecting the model and then you land on explorer view > click on search to insight on top

Thanks,

Debjit

Hi Debjit,

I deleted the one I was able to see to check if maybe just one model is supported...

I created a new story and clicked on the lightbulb on top, but still can't see or search the model.

Kind regards,

Tobi

Hello tobi_gg,

I was looking at account. I have multiple business and trail account.

Here is the explanation - Trial account only let you use smart features (including Smart Insight) is only allowed on the models provided in the trail account. If you build something from scratch then it wont appear. Restriction is based on "created by" So even if you copy model, smart function will filter out.

Thanks.

Hi Debjit,

I am having the same issue but in my case I am not using a trial account, we have our own tenant. Do you know what could be the problem?

I have activated the option on the model but still not appearing the model.

Thanks in advance,

Diana

You need to go to the Model configuration and enable the option "Index Model" right below "Search to Insight" to be able to access the model using this Smart Feature.
